Lanksford E. Hankins, a retired educator, was born in Halifax County, Virginia. He completed his secondary education in the public schools of Halifax County. He received his Bachelors of Science from St. Paul’s College, a Master’s in Administration from the University of Virginia with honors, a Master of Divinity and Doctorate in the ministry from Virginia University of Lynchburg. Dr. Hankins served as a teacher in Nelson County, Campbell County, and Lynchburg. He also was an assistant principal in Campbell County. He has served as president of the Nelson County Teacher’s Association and the Local Education Association. He is married to Annie B. Hankins, a retired teacher and has two children, a daughter and a son.
